Sue Porter runs away with the 2019-2020 Safari Results

Firstly, thanks to Nicky & Andy Rhodes for organising this years safari and to Nicky for presenting the results this evening. Firstly Nicky explained what the safari is about – its in two halves, the first is answering a series of questions based on Carmarthen and the second was to make 11 images based in the town of Carmarthen. Although 10 members took part in this years event only 8 actually submitted the 11 images that were required. In the quiz section the joint winners were Alan Harris and Sue Porter who both answered all the questions correctly. 42 Entries for Round 3 Print Competition

A good entry for our round 3 Print Competition this week with some 42 prints being entered covering a wide range of themes. Our judge this week was Gary Shinner, LRPS, EFIAP/b, EPSA, AWPF, BPSA from Trostre/Velindre camera club. Of the 42 entries which Gary judged he awarded the vast majority between 12 and 17 points selecting 8 'winning' images marking those between 18 and 20 points. The Wild Life of the Falkland Islands

Mike Cullis, from Tenby club, entertained us with a talk on the wildlife found in the Falkland Islands. These remote South Atlantic archipelago islands are shaped by the extreme weather and host to a variety of birds, fish and mammals. Mike used photos and movies to illustrate these unique Islands. When the residents were asked if they wanted to be part of Argentina or to remain British, they voted to stay British. The Union Jack can be seen flying everywhere on the Islands. As Mike's photos showed. The photographs Mike had taken of the wildlife, which included birds, sea lions and the different varieties of penguins were stunning.
