Tenby 8 Way Battle
Tenby 8 Way Battle
Tenby & District Camera Club, St Florence
There was no session in Carmarthen this week as it was hoped that a good number of members would attend the 8 Way Battle being hosted by Tenby. This was the 2nd time Tenby had run their 8 Way Battle and we wanted as many members as possible from Carmarthen to support this event as Tenby always support our Battles with a good turnout.
Apart from Carmarthen and Tenby the other clubs participating were Cardigan, Kidwelly, Llanelli, Newquay, Towy Valley and Trostre and with 10 images per club, judge Gareth Martin had quite a volume and variety of images to get through! There was a good mix of images to interest, although we had seen many in battles last season.
Gareth did not work with a score sheet, preferring to score from memory and gave his usual tips on how images could be improved. He gave a wide range of scores, with 7 top scores of 20 - 2 for Cardigan, 2 for Llanelli, 2 for Tenby and 1 for Trostre.
The final scores were:
1st Tenby 183
2nd Trostre 177
3rd Llanelli 172
4th= Carmarthen 163
4th= Kidwelly 163
6th Towy Valley 161
7th Cardigan 160
8th Newquay 156
Alas no 20 for Carmarthen this time, but our images had some good comments from Gareth and here are the scores:
Dandelion Adrian Smith 17
Delicate Ian Thomas 18
Green Eyes Alan Fitzpatrick 17
Have a Bud Alan Harries 16
In the spotlight Mavis Evans 15
Inspired whilst washing up Nicky Rhodes 14
Lit Up Andy Rhodes 18
Rapid Progress Adrian Smith 16
Through the wire Sue Porter 16
Tram Line Alan Fitzpatrick 16
Well done to you all - 4th position was very good given the standard of images being entered.
Thank you to Tenby for hosting this event, and for providing a fantastic buffet and a raffle with plenty of prizes.
The next external competition is the 12 Way print battle at Bridgend on Monday 1 October.
Next week is our first PDI competition of the season being judged by Dennis Russ and remember to bring along mounted prints (up to 4) for judging on the 18 October. Just a reminder that a tutorial from John’s presentation on mounting from last week is available on the website if you need some further hints on presenting your printed images.
