With 60 entries to go through, this was a very full evening and our judge, Andy, did extremely well to keep to time!
Andy began with some sage advice - “Take pictures for yourself, not for competitions”. I agree wholeheartedly!
As usual, we had a very varied collection of entries, from abstract to landscape with wildlife, macro and still life in-between! Also, the standard was good, which made it a tough ask for the judge. However, Andy managed to give constructive and useful comments and marks for them all, without seeming to gallop through or appear rushed.
The scores were spread wide, out of 20, from 13 to 20.
The top scorers were as follows:
The Winner, with 20 out of 20
“Reflections at Grand Central Station”, by Ian Thomas
Runner’s up, with 19 out of 20
“Yellow Rose”, by Maria Pearce
"Garlic Papery”, by Ian Thomas
Very well done to Ian and Maria for your excellent entries and many thanks to Andy for a perfectly timed presentation!
Next week we have our DIY Christmas night - Games, fun and pizza for all! Wear something Christmasy (or something red, at least), and I’ll see you there. Ho, ho, ho!
