This week Carmarthen Photographic Society welcomed back members from the neighbouring clubs of Tenby, New Quay and Cardigan for our annual 4 way battle.
The judge this year was Brian Coleman from Bridgend. 10 images from each club were submitted and Brian stated that the volume and range of work made the judging challenging. He told us that no particular style or content influenced him, but that anything that instantly resonated with him scored highly.
It was a hotly contested competition, with Tenby just beating Carmarthen by 2 points, the overall scores are shown on the table below. Well done to the members of Tenby Club who submitted images.
Here is a flavour of Brian’s comments on the highest scoring images from each club:
Jeepers, Creepers you Frightened Me - expression incredible with the whites of eyes. Fantastic detail in the fur, background nicely out of focus.
Ophelia at Church Rock - simple yet very effective. Really conveys the danger of the sea.
Hand - effective portrait, fantastic detail, dappled light and texture lovely. Stunningly simple, shows fantastic strength.
Egli-Vincent - Beautifully done, crisp good detail in the advertising. Framed a little bit too tight.
Breaking the Rules - The 2 people in the doorway make the image along with the No Waiting sign.
Carmarthen Chairman Sue thanked members from all the clubs for attending and for their support of this annual event. Thanks to everyone for providing the food for the buffet and especially to Brian Coleman for his excellent critique and judging.
Next week is Round 4 of our Print Competition.
